Macbeth (2017)

Macbeth

Every now and then, those productions come along which provide one with the opportunity to both overcome adversities and blaze social trails for the community. This was that production. This small, brave ensemble of (predominantly) women–many of whom had never tackled Shakespeare’s text before–undertook this inverted-gender production of Shakespeare’s immortal tragedy. I am so proud of this production and, more importantly, these incredible women.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

This project proved to be quite a surprise to me. I knew this show, but not to the extent that I knew some others. So, I entered this one with an open mind. The surprise came in how deeply this “little” show touched me and this wonderful cast.

The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged)

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) (2015)

Missouri Western State University Theatre

This project was so much fun to work on. Riley Bayer, Ronald Baker, and Antonio Daniels-Braziel absolutely rocked this show. We were also fortunate to have the help of two members of the Reduced Shakespeare Company come to campus to give us some pointers! A very special shout-out to Austin Tichenor and Reed Martin for taking time out of their busy schedules to share their wealth of knowledge and for inviting us to see their Christmas show just before we opened!

Hot Mikado (2015) – Palm Canyon Theatre

In the summer of 2015, I had the great pleasure of spending several weeks with the good folks at Palm Canyon Theatre in Palm Springs, CA.  I directed their summer production of Hot Mikado.  I met some truly amazing people and help produce a really clever and hilarious show.

Picasso at the Lapin Agile – MWSU 2014

Picasso at the Lapin Agile

Personally, this was one of those “mountain” shows.  I had to climb it to prove to myself that I could.  As an undergrad, this play intimidated me because of its depth, complexity and sophistication – all the while hanging on to it’s sense of sophomoric humor.  It worked on so many levels and I knew it, I just didn’t know how or why.

This cast and crew was the equally up to the challenge with me and I’m glad they came on this journey.

The Drowsy Chaperone

The Drowsy Chaperone marks one of my proudest moments thus far in my collegiate career.  The Regional Selection Team selected our production to perform as one of eight productions during the Evening of Invited Scenes at the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Lincoln, NE in January of 2014.  Sebastian Smith, Thomas Delgado and Erik Burns-Sprung performed one of the scenes to a theatre full of hungry and eager theatre students.  It was awesome.

Miss Saigon – Western Playhouse 2013

Miss Saigon

For the second season of Western Playhouse, I was handed a seemingly insurmountable task for our fledgling company.  I put together the best production team I knew and set about the task of putting this thing together.  We attended auditions in Kansas City, St. Joseph and the Southeastern Theatre Conference.

What an outstanding production experience! I’m so proud to have been part of it. We all made some really great new friends and made some amazing theatre in the process.

Sweeney Todd – MWSU 2013

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Sweeney Todd was definitely number one on my bucket list of shows.  I can honestly say that I have checked this one off the list.  (Not that I wouldn’t do it again…)

This was, quite literally, the perfect storm of cast, crew, and production team.  This show turned out exactly as I pictured it in my head.  I take that back.  It was better.
